There is a fan theory, read here: theory
Here is my over detailed response putting holes all up in that business with evidence
Harry: Could be Master, Brother 3, or Brother 2
Harry was in possession of all 3 hallows, making him the master of death, which means you can make the argument that he isn’t one of the three brothers but actually is death or death’s superior. After all Dumbledore, Snape, and Voldy were all killed through some connection to the Hallows & Harry Potter
He technically is in the lineage of the third brother, making him the natural possessor of the cloak. He also behaves like the third brother in his acceptance of death without fear.
Harry expresses in 7 that he would have chosen the stone to bring back the ones he loves. He used the stone correctly because it wasn’t to improve his life but to make his death easier, making him its true master. That second sentence however points to the master of death theory rather than the one saying he is the second brother.
Snape was fit for none of the hallows, although if all had gone to plan he would have come by the wand in the “right” way.
Fans argue that he is the stone/second brother since he is so dedicated Lily’s memory, and he was the antihero who put himself in deaths way over and over again for his love of a dead woman.
Voldemort: B2, B1?
ok this one bugs me, He is from the house of gaunt, making him the descendant of the brother with the stone (2).
However, when he found the ring he didn’t recognize it and wouldn’t have cared it was the resurrection stone because he does not love.
He fit the personality of the elder wand because he sought to beat death: the creed of the first brother. BUT He never had true possession of the elder wand because it would not serve him truly even when he stole it.
Dumbledore: Death? B3? B1? B2?
The fan theory says he is death, since he was in possession of all 3 hallows at one time yet gave them away. He also was at kings cross station in limbo
He greeted harry “old friend” which fits the tale of the third brother, and he was in possession of the cloak but even he admitted it would not have worked for him as it does for Harry.
It makes sense that he would be the true owner of the elder wand, B1. He admitted this in 7 when he said “I was only fit to use the wand and never brag of it or use it for violence” This would make him the first brother but superior in his correct use of the hallow.
His greatest weakness was the stone, because he wanted his family and closure. it did not work for him but thats his desire
He is also probably directly related to the Peveralls because he lived in Godric’s hollow
The evidence of the direct lineage for all 3 pure bloods (potter was a pure blood family) is weak because all pure blood families are connected by blood or marriage
In summary, I have no idea.
I don’t think Snape belongs because he never wielded any of the hallows but his story fits the stone and the brother who wanted it. If it is based on possession/use rather than blood?
- Harry was in possession of all 3 and used 2 (He technically didn’t use the elder but for playing upon its allegiance)
- Snape had none
- Dumbledore had all 3 but used 1
- Voldemort had 2 but used none truly. The elder wasn’t his allegiance wise and the stone wasn’t used for what it was.
Who knows? Who cares? Obviously Me.
