Poem 1, Page 1: 500 Days of Us
“500 Days of Us” is a love poem I wrote in defense of the cliche. My professor would constantly condemn the idea so I chose to demonstrate how a poem with every line a cliche’d cringe worthy one would still have innate value. I may or may not have failed.
Without giving too much away, I chose to write about the love of my current life. I’m not a romantic, but it was shockingly easy to answer the questions of “who would I trudge in the snow to see”, “who has supported me every day for 4 years”, “who will I defend and protect to the detriment of all other my relationships?”
This poem is dedicated to my Grandmother, who introduced us when I was 17.
